Palazzo Margherita Celebrates San Bernardino on August 23rd

On August 23rd in Bernalda we celebrate San Bernardino.

A procession with horsemen and people in costume accompany the statue of the saint.

The statue is placed on an antique wooden wagon richly decorated with images that represent the life of the saint. To have the honor of carrying the saint, the owners of trucks and tractors must participate in an auction, which continues during the procession, so it may happen that rotations occur in the middle of the path. This year, in addition to riders, rigorously dressed up in period costumes and flag bearers, to Trombonieri and to the musketeers there will be also a group of street band that will color the long and crowded Corso Umberto where Palazzo Margherita is strategically located.
