Nekupe Sporting Resort and Retreat, Nicaragua’s first luxury countryside resort, is an intimate eight-room property located on a 1,300-acre nature reserve. Offering a seamless confluence of sustainable nature-based design with Feng Shui influences, rich Nicaraguan culture and warm hospitality, the property effortlessly blends with the environment to nurture exploration, adventure and wellbeing.

Nekupe, which means “heaven” in Chorotega – the indigenous language of a native tribe in Nicaragua, features four standalone villas, each with an open terrace and private staff, and the Main Residence. The Main Residence is a four bedroom residential compound that houses two grand suites, two additional suites, 2 swimming pools, full kitchen, dining area, and staff.

Resort amenities include one luxury ATV per guest room, a private spa and outdoor programming, a swimming pool, two tennis courts, and Casa Club, Nekupe’s exclusive lobby lounge and communal gathering area.

Set amidst a lush mountain landscape, guests will enjoy over 1800 acres of natural terrain ideal for an equal measure of active pursuits and wellbeing-oriented endeavors. Guests will enjoy outdoor adventures that include horseback riding, hiking, sporting clay and target shooting, bird and wildlife watching and ATVing. Leisure activity includes daily outdoor and indoor yoga, cooking and cocktail making classes, gardening and farming lessons, tennis, spa treatments, dancing or painting classes and excursions to neighboring towns or one of the many volcanoes.

Nekupe is the vision of Nicaraguan philanthropists Don Alfredo Pellas, Jr. and Doña Theresita Pellas, avid travelers and adventure enthusiasts whose commitment to nature is exhibited through the resort’s core principle of respect for the environment. The end result is a socially responsible mountain-based sanctuary that enriches an outdoor sporting lifestyle and creates an external retreat to inner peace.

Main Residence

The main residential compound is perched on a hill allowing for unobstructed views of the reserve out to Mombacho Volcano. The residence’s design is a contemporary interpretation of indigenous local architectural with welcoming courtyards and long corridors surrounding the residence. The 24,000 square foot building offers four rooms – two grand suites, each 1,300 square feet, one king bed in each and two additional suites, each 870 square feet, with two queen beds each. Grand Suite bathrooms in the Main Residence feature outdoor showers and views out to the reserve and deep soaking tubs for each guest room. The room’s contemporary aesthetic provides an understated design that makes guests feel at home in a mountain-based sanctuary. High ceilings and expansive windows allow guests to take in the majesty of the outdoors.

Villas

The villas are steps from the main residence and arranged so guests are immersed in nature. Three villas are 1,000 square feet, and a junior villa is 700 square feet, each with one king bed, living area and bathrooms with soaking tub and shower. Floor-to-ceiling windows and open terraces allow the natural splendor of the outdoors to permeate in the indoor space that offers views of Mombacho Volcano.

Rates include meals during breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, alcoholic beverages, one ATV per accommodation, a personal Ranger dedicated to each room, all activities on property with the exception of the shooting range, personal fitness training, and spa treatments.
