Why do you love being a travel advisor?
For me, being able to indulge in a diversity of knowledge is key. Our industry, the product we sell, and the world at large are constantly changing so I love that 20+ years in, I’m still learning and discovering.

Destinations you specialize in:

Most of my clients are in the entertainment or creative industries and our bookings jump from market segment to market segment. So I purposely have to keep my pulse on the whole globe. Personally, I always get a little more excited though when it’s Europe, Central or South America.

I love that the Bennett + Mercado portfolio is so diverse and that each property projects a unique, singular vision. This diversity and vision also carries over to the team. Bennett + Mercado has always had a clear sense of purpose, whether it’s proudly championing inclusion or being an advocate for the travel agency community. While it’s hard to pick a favorite Bennett + Mercado hotel or destination, Nayara Gardens will always hold a special place in my heart as it’s where my sister got married. This also goes back to having a vision as this was before Nayara Springs or Nayara Tented Camp. So it’s just amazing to me to see what they’ve accomplished since.

Any words of encouragement for the travel industry community? 

This is a painful moment for our industry but also a rare, once in a lifetime opportunity for us to pause, learn, regroup, streamline, and innovate our business. Stay nimble and perceptive so you can take advantage of changes in the competitive landscape. There are two things I know to be true from past experience: the travel industry is resilient and it’s also very cyclical in nature. So, yes, I have a lot of faith in the long-term outlook of our industry.
